A Few More Reasons To Support Gay Marriage

February 20th 2009 02:48

The fight for Marriage Equality continues... From Connecticut to Norway, people who have just won the right to marry the person of their choice are saying:
"Lesbian marriage makes the idea that there's no such thing as a lesbian much harder to espouse."
"Now I'm enjoying the equality I've always dreamt of / never thought I could witness."

"While I do not need a piece of paper to validate my relationship, I want to enjoy not simply the same rights as heterosexual couples, but the status as well - so long, civil unequality!"

You deserve to live in a world where everybody can get married regardless of gender... this makes our society stronger, stops creating divisions between people on the basis of sexual orientation, and we cannot say that we are living in a just and fair society if that society does not allow same-sex marriage.

Here's a few more videos on the topic. Please send them to your friends, your family and your loved ones, and ask them to send them on... eventually we will reach everybody.

Nancy Pelosi on the discriminatory nature of Proposition 8:

Fernando Lopez's fight for Marriage Equality:

Julian Bond of NAACP - it has no stand on gay marriage, but he does!

Religious leaders speak out in favour of marriage equality:

This subject has drawn some emotional responses, including this, from the Mayor of San Diego (which is quite conservative): [HTML3456]

I thought Julian was mighty funky as well...

It's so interesting to see how people's attitudes towards homosexuality are changing - sometimes subtly, sometimes dramatically, but generally for the better.
